Not every valuable Path of Exile 2 reward comes from a lucky boss drop. The Depleted Mana Rune is a good example: it looks like a strange Expedition trinket at first, then turns into a character-building puzzle with a unique wand at the end. You'll need patience, a decent Mana plan, and sometimes a small stash of POE 2 Currency to make the setup less painful. The rune can drop after defeating Uhtred, the Stardrinker in Expedition endgame content. It is not something you can reliably farm in an afternoon, so don't treat it like vendor trash when it appears. Speak to Farrow after picking it up. That conversation points you toward the real requirement, though the game doesn't exactly spell out how awkward it can be for a normal build.
Charging the Rune Takes Current Mana
The key detail is easy to miss: the rune checks your current Mana, not merely your maximum Mana shown on the character sheet. To change a Depleted Mana Rune into an Infused Mana Rune, you need at least 10,000 Mana available at that moment, then right-click the rune in your inventory. If you spend Mana just before doing it, you may fall short even if your total pool is high enough. That catches plenty of players. Don't rush the click after entering a map or casting a skill. Fill your Mana first, make sure any temporary Mana effect is active, and only then use the item. If the conversion works, take the Infused Mana Rune back to Farrow. He exchanges it for Runeseeker's Call, the unique Runic Fork Wand. Since the quest reward is limited to one per character through regular progression, it's worth taking a minute to get the setup right.
Building a Temporary 10,000 Mana Setup
Most ordinary attack builds won't stumble into 10,000 Mana by accident. Even many casters sit well below it until they make deliberate changes. The simplest approach is to build a temporary Mana set rather than tearing apart a character you actually enjoy playing. Start with gear that has flat maximum Mana and Intelligence. Rings, amulets, helmets, body armour, and shields can all make a noticeable difference. Next, look through the passive tree for maximum Mana, Intelligence, and any route that supports Energy Shield-to-Mana scaling. You don't need a perfect endgame tree; you only need enough stats for one inventory click. Some players also use Mana Overflow-style effects to push beyond their usual cap. That can work well, but test it carefully. Activate the effect, refill Mana, check the number, and use the rune before the buff expires. It sounds obvious, yet it's surprisingly easy to open the inventory a second too late.
What Makes Runeseeker's Call Worth the Trouble
Runeseeker's Call is aimed at players who want more from rune mechanics than a standard caster weapon can offer. Its five Augment Rune sockets are the main attraction. That gives you room to tune the wand around the sort of spell damage, utility, or defensive support your build actually needs. The wand also benefits from stronger rune interaction, which is why Mana-stacking spellcasters tend to value it more than generic wand users. There's also the Runeforging angle. Depending on the options available to your character and build, extra implicit modifiers can change how the weapon feels in practice. Don't assume every rune belongs in it just because there's an open socket. Think about what your build is missing. More damage may look tempting, but cast speed, Mana efficiency, resistances, or a useful utility effect can sometimes do more for mapping and boss fights. The wand is powerful because it gives choices, not because it automatically fixes a weak build.
Final Thoughts
This quest is less about brute-force farming and more about preparation. Keep the Depleted Mana Rune safe, talk to Farrow, then put together a short-term Mana setup that gets you over the threshold without wrecking your usual character. Buying a few high-Intelligence pieces, refunding several passive points, or borrowing Mana-focused equipment can be enough. Players looking for POE 2 Currency for sale may find that route useful when temporary gear or respec costs are the only things holding the attempt back, but there's no need to overinvest once the rune is charged. Refill your Mana, confirm the 10,000 figure, and use the rune while every relevant effect is still running. With that done, Runeseeker's Call becomes a flexible reward that can support plenty of rune-heavy caster projects.
